cROWN tHINNING

WHAT IS CROWN THINNING?

Crown thinning is removing excess crown foliage from a tree, including crossed or rubbing limbs.

WHY THIN A TREE?

There are many reasons why a tree may require a crown thinning:
  • A crown may need thinning to allow healthier limbs to grown in place of older ones
  • A crown may need thinning if broken limbs are caught in the crown itself
  • A crown can be thinned to improve the shape and form of the tree
  • A crown can be thinned to improve sunlight penetration and alleviate the dangers of creating a wind sail
